I had $2300, a broken heart and a strong desire to get out of San Francisco, tonight. I paid 2 grand for a broken down Westfalia and drove it north to Seattle. It broke down in Oregon and a new fuel pump cost me $200. Gas cost me the last $100. My first ten minutes in my new Seattle life was spent borrowing $20 from my landlord. I got a job at a restaurant to make some instant cash, got a second job at a car dealership and fixed up the Westfalia. Sold it for $6500, became the salesman of the year, manager, and now I run a dealership. It’s from that dealership I type this story. I have cars and houses and all the trappings, but what I’d really love? Is to get that Westfalia back.
